MFA IN A DAY 2017 will be held at Convene in Midtown Manhattan, Saturday, September 30th, with an optional manuscript consultation component. Manuscript consults take place the following day, October 1st, at The Algonquin Hotel in The Helen Hayes Boardroom and The Library Boardroom. 

MFA IN A DAY is a series of dynamic craft and publishing talks about writing and the publishing industry, curated by The Writer's Hotel NYC Writers Conference. MFA IN A DAY is designed to provide writers with the tools and information to take their work to the next level. From the creative side of writing to the business end of publishing, MFA In A Day covers it all in a series of high-intensity, well-delivered powerful talks that make writing come alive. 

MFA In A Day is designed for writers who:

-Want to find new inspiration about their poetry, fiction or nonfiction

- Are looking for new craft tools to help them edit their work

- Need to overcome a block in their work

- Want to learn more about pacing and plot

- Want to learn more about form

-Want to brush up on the publishing industry

-Want to learn how to pitch to and query an agent

-Are considering attending Creative Writing MFA program

-Who have attended an MFA program and want to brush up their skills

At MFA IN A DAY, writers are given the opportunity to listen and interact with writers and industry professionals. MFA IN A DAY helps writers stay in touch with the ever-changing marketplace of publishing. 

Regular ticket, Saturday, September 30th only:

Registration is $550

This includes the full day program, from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM at Convene in Midtown. Each person will have full access to the Convene food bar, where they serve soft drinks, coffee and amazing snacks. Lunch is not included. Each registrant will receive MFA IN A DAY materials upon check in at Convene. 

Special manuscript consult ticket, Saturday, September 30th & Sunday, October 1st:

(Limit: 20 special tickets) 

Registration is $1750

Each registrant must also be attending MFA IN A DAY. 

This ticket is for those writers who wish to consult about their manuscripts the day after MFA IN A DAY, on Sunday, October 1st. Faculty members Shanna McNair and Scott Wolven will read the writer's manuscript before MFA IN A DAY and send the manuscript back to the writer before MFA IN A DAY. Then we will meet in person at The Alonquin Hotel on Sunday, October 1st in the Helen Hayes Boardroom and the Library Boardroom to consult about the MS and answer any questions they may have about the comments and edits they received. Each manuscript consult will last one hour, and both faculty members will meet with the writer.
